This college music professor is with you everyday while you play, correcting you and helping you to superstardom. or, maybe just stardom. Everyone doesn't want to be a superstar. The beauty of it all is that you don't have to go online to do all this. Learning this way bends the learning curve to shorten the time it takes to become professionally proficient at the keyboard. I love this type of on the job training. Hours go by so quickly...........Lot's of times I start writing and toying around with this program, look up at the clock and two hours have gone by. What seemed like thirty minutes was actually two hours. I love this program. All you have to do is write or play whatever you can mainly create the melody with your right hand, then compile it, then EZ automatically creates the left hand chords for you. If you want to you can also change those first few notes you've chicken pecked out (that's how I do it everyday) and alter them to triad 4ths, 5ths, 6ths, 7ths,... on up to 13ths..... and more. Realistically, rarely do you have to go over 7ths.After that Keys pops up a circle of 4ths and 5ths and let's to toy around with it to see and hear what the neighboring chords look and sound like, then you write some more then compile again, then repeat, then after doing this a dozen or so times, you've got a complete song that sounds way above your current level of play. These compositions actually makes us sound like we really can play the piano:-) And the best thing, it really does sounds good! It doesn't sound amateurish or hokey like those songs we played out of the music books with the finger numbers over and under the notes, telling us which fingers to use when playing a song. Trust me! I am extremely glad I purchased the chord and scale wands. I cannot tell you how much these tools have done for me and really have helped unlock the piano in a way no other tool or book I have ever used did. I wish I would have had these when I was 5-6 years old trying, in utter frustration, to learn the basics of music and its theory. I never did learn the piano. Now, in my 40's, I am trying to learn the skill and these tools immediately answered questions and clarified chords and scales in a way I could understand and immediately apply. I also bought stickers for my keys and these were immediately helpful. Putting all these tools together, the piano and keys immediately make sense and are readily visualized. I know the purists out there may be reticent to use these crutches, but for me this works. I was able to play immediately, albeit slowly, from simple sheet music. I will never be an expert at the piano, but I can at least enjoy my time spent on learning it and feel better about it.

This ingenious little tool has become indispensable to me and is a permanent fixture on the top of my piano. I'm a beginning piano player and I can't tell you how much it has come in handy in helping me be able to quickly and easily find all the notes in whatever chord(s) I need to play. Whoever invented it deserves a gold medal. It's well- made to last forever and is super easy to use for a beginner like me. I just can't say enough good things about it- I really love it and highly recommend it to anyone learning how to play the piano.

I purchased this through Scott Houston's website. I gave his starter package three stars but love this item (which I added to the order - it is an independently supplied product he will sell along with his stuff). This handy tool will let you put your fingers on just about any piano chord in seconds WITHOUT dissecting each integral note in the chord. The best part is you can do a replay on that anytime until you know the chord from memory. Worth EVERY penny (IMO)

Yes this little jewel helps with the chords, but to really learn and play chords, I guess it comes with practice and training ones ear to hear and reconized the notes needed in such chords, But it does help form them.

I hoped this tool would make it easier to learn the chords on the piano keyboard and it could, but using it doesn't make it easier, it only makes it possible. It will still take as much work as it would without this tool, plus you'll need to place the ruler on the keyboard, move it around, and remove it. It would be far more useful if it also included the rules for how the various chords are constructed, but it doesn't. I don't think you'll find this a useful tool. It falls far short of being all it could be.

This ingenious tool will enable you to learn even the most complicated chords fast. If you are a visual learner, all the better. I'm a pretty good sight reader as long as the notes stay in the general neighborhood of their staffs, but I'm not too good with the upper or lower ledger lines. If you are learning to play by chords, this belongs on your piano.
