This product was my first experience with kava. We purchased it in a shop by the recommendation of the owner, who seemed to know what she was talking about. She said this was the strongest one, so we bought it. We tried it in a chocolate recipe from the Bella Blue Jungle blog, and to me that came out at the right potency level. I have also mixed it in a sort of hot chocolate with lots of cream since fat is supposed to make the kava more accessible: 1 tsp kava powder, 1 tsp matcha, 2 tsp cocoa powder, honey and cream with a pat of butter or coconut oil, sea salt, and hot water (although not too hot since the kava and honey are heat-sensitive, just hot enough to be enjoyable as a hot chocolate). We’ve read that some people need a few days to feel the effects of the kava; this was true for my husband, but not for me as I felt the effects immediately during the first time I consumed it. After a day my husband did start to sleep better after eating it and it seems to be helping both our stress levels. We only take it once daily, usually right before bed. If you’re curious and don’t mind experimenting in your kitchen, I would start with this. Cooking with kava can diminish the potency, but since this is a stronger root portion, it doesn’t seem to be a problem if you’re careful.

This is a good product as far as potency. It will not be the best or most potent kava product on the market, but it is great compared to capsules and extracts. If you take a tablespoon, you will definitely feel it, strongly feel it. I bought this same product at my local health food store, not on Amazon, but it is the same product.

I found it pretty potent, i wish they sold it in larger sizes.
