Excellent Tool
I have the Agility hand paddles, but I needed some help with my wrist so I tried the Bolster Paddle. Well worth it. Helped instantly and now I use them during my warmup laps. They also helped me improve my early catch, more so than the Agility hand paddles. With the agility paddles your fingers ( especially the thumb ) are forced in very specific form to hold the paddle..( no strap ). also your hand itself is more compressed and flat. which may not be the best form for you when you are actually swimming. The bolster paddle lets you space your fingers and curve the hand how you would when you are swimming without the paddle. It is a personal thing, but I find I get more power with some spacing of my fingers and a slight curvature.. it is hard to train like that with the Agility paddles.I am in pretty good shape so they do not bother my shoulder but I could see how they could be difficult for someone who is not. Also if your technique is really poor, this is probably not the first thing to use.. They are a bit awkward if you are totally starting out. start with something like the Agility paddles to learn the stroke.

Helped with my wrist stabilization but fit isn't great
I usually swim a mile and I use hand paddles but because of typing and the paddles I think my wrist got overused and began to ache when I did laps. These helped a lot but maybe they could be shorter and have a better angle at the transition point between hand and wrist. The angle is too square for my hand (woman's med) and my wrist is 6 inch. As is a one size fit all and seems designed for someone with a larger hand/arm than mine and I don't think it would fit an adolescent. The paddles come with one set of tubing but really should include more for a better more stable fit. The velcro is good. One person mentioned that during a stroke there is some binding of the arm/elbow and I agree it's not a fluid movement and takes some getting used to. I don't think this is good for someone who wants to gain speed. Also, I started out slow because I could feel it in my shoulders....and didn't want to add a shoulder or neck injury. However, it did allow me to swim with some resistance and improved the pain in my wrist, so for that I am glad this product is on the market. I didn't find anything else like it for hand/wrist support. Using this did add time to my workout but I am not swimming for speed.

Pick up speed and arm definition!
I swam an open water lake race and improved my mile from an hour to 15 minutes (assisted division), and decreased my arm size by 1/4 inch in two weeks. These are a little hard to get used to because they really work your arms. Within two weeks I used them in a race without any issues and loved them. I'm a swimmer who goes no where fast, but when I combine these with flippers (speedo long), I get moving and usually lap the more serious swimmers in the pool. I'm also using them to get a better workout, and look better in cocktail dresses. They are definately good for that. If you stick with them, you'll see definition in your arms pretty quickly if you swim about a half or mile every day. I love them. They've held up well and they don't warp in the warm sun in your car. They are the most awesome paddles I've used for the strokes I do (BUDS, freestyle, side stroke).

Not recommended for experienced swimmers
Not recommended for experienced swimmers. As a youth and Masters coach I thought these would be an interesting way for swimmers with poor underwater stroke technique to get the proper feel and orientation. Unfortunately, 'locking' the wrist encourages poor recovery technique with wide, straight elbow, recovery. Inefficient. The potential gain is not worth the harm.

would recomend to anyone
I swim a mile a day six days a week. I got these to improve my form and because traditional paddles didnt work for me.Before I began using these I was having wrist pain bad. If I dont get the placement quite right (and there is a learning curve) then I have pain in my hands. But I have chronic pain and fibromyalgia so im not certain im the best gauge.I will say this I much prefer the stability of these Velcro straps to the traditional kind. The fact that it stabilizes the wrist is wonderful and I have had many compliments on these and my form has improved. My only complaint on these is that they do not come with spare rubber tubes (and when you insert the ones that come with some of the plastic peels away)so I had to get those from tyr and they are not black... pink is going to look weird with yellow but owell it's not a fashion show.

Real low impact workout.
I got back into swimming so I could exercise with out the impact on my joints (not wanting to suffer as my father is, after a long life of sport activities, with arthritus; rendering him to constant pain). These paddles are perfect for me to keep my wrists ridged with my forearms and hands. I wanted to exercise my upper body muscles, but I wanted to spare my wrists and hands the stress. They are just what I needed.

I do think the wrist splint feature makes it good equipment if you're working on stroke form
Hard to use. You're told that you'll swim faster with them and to not get addicted to them, but there's a learning curve. I do think the wrist splint feature makes it good equipment if you're working on stroke form. The tube straps have already frayed bc the holes are small.
